Abstract | In Queensland, the implementation of A statement on English for Australian schools (1994), and English - a curriculum profile for Australian schools (1994) has been heavily influenced by local policies and curriculum work that was well underway prior to the development of the Statement and Profile. Following is an interview between Christine Ludwig and Claire Wyatt-Smith about Queensland's take-up of the English Statement and Profile. The focus of the interview is on the relationship between national and state initiatives concerning outcomes-based education, especially as this relates to the development and implementation of the English in Years 1 to 10 Queensland syllabus materials (1994), and its recently revised student performance standards (SPS) in English (1996). The pedagogical implications of outcomes-based education are also considered. |
