Abstract | This paper explores religion's relationship with the creative arts. The article begins by considering how the arts interact with, and reflect, life and then investigates the contribution the arts have made to religion and religious discussion. The final section focuses on the latest genre of the arts - film - and explores the contribution that film makes to religion and to life. The mutual relation between arts and religion has been obvious throughout the history of Christianity, particularly in the communicative modes of religion such as ritual, sacramental practice and the process of passing on the faith. |
