Abstract | This chapter considers some problematic issues regarding the role and responsibilities of religious education leaders in light of recent policy recommendations in Australia. A key finding from the research described here is that, while the policies maintain that religious education leaders should promote the religious identity of the school as well as foster a sense of connectedness through building school community, those very leaders are at times the ones who feel the least connected to the school community. They are also more likely than other leaders to resign from the position prior to completing their full term. |
