Abstract | This thesis is located in the changing context of higher education and concomitant changes in the management of higher education institutions (HEIs) and the nature of academic work. The research explores the role of academic libraries in providing opportunities to support the lifelong learning of academic staff. It is argued that within the evolving context and requirements of higher education, the provision of academic library lifelong learning opportunities are vitally important for academic staff to meet the changing nature and needs of their work in the short-term, and enhance their life chances, in the longer term. |
