Abstract

The faith leadership role of the rural primary Catholic principal is expanding in line with expectations as expressed in Church documents, diocesan policy and role descriptions. This paper, the first in a two part series, reports on the faith leadership perceptions of ten principals from one Queensland rural diocese. The findings presented in this paper suggest that the principals perceive faith leadership in terms of religious belief and practice. It is not surprising then that they believe they have a greater faith leadership role in their parish and wider community than they do in their school.
