Abstract | This workshop examines the opportunities for environmental education in new courses of study to be introduced in 2007 and 2008 in Western Australian secondary schools. These courses are from the learning areas of Science and Society and Environment, and are among the courses offered as part of the new Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE). Courses to be discussed include Biology, Earth and Environmental Science, and Geography. Topics to be covered include links to environmental education themes; course structure and content; learning, teaching and assessment; and teaching and learning resources. Participants will be provided with sample teaching and learning materials such as unit outlines, evidence plans, schemes of assessment, student briefs for assessment tasks and assessment rubrics. |
