Abstract	[Extract] Rebecca, a 20-year-old young lady with a past history of serious medical disease (including common variable immune deficiency with bronchiectasis, end stage renal failure requiring dialysis and autoimmune complications including peripheral vascular disease from her immune deficiency), was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at the Children’s Hospital following a failure to be able to extubate her after attempted replacement of a renal dialysis catheter under general anaesthetic.
