Abstract | Curriculum debates in US schools - and now increasingly in Australia - regarding the claims of religiously-minded creationism to have equal time with biological evolutionism have become newsworthy. The media quickly translates the issues into simple questions: Does science allow for the Creator? Does belief in the Creator allow for science? Such a clash of views has led to wider discussions of philosophical, theological and even scientific perspectives regarding the emergence of the universe, the origin and evolution of life, and the place of the human within it. |
