Abstract | [Extract] This chapter explores the uses and meanings of love, parental, sibling, conjugal among them, as it was applied in these contexts, by whom it was articulated, and to achieve what aims. We explore the ways that they were expressed in the course of marriage negotiations within the Orange- Nassau family through a case study of the children of Frederik Hendrik, Prince of Orange, and his wife, Amalia von Solms-Braunfels. |
