Abstract | Recently, Western Australian Greens Senator, Jordon Steele-John, introduced a bill to Federal Parliament that proposed voluntary voting rights be granted to Australians aged 16 and 17. The 'Commonwealth Electoral Amendment (Lowering Voting Age and Increasing Voter Participation) Bill 2018 (Cth). This has prompted a flurry of debate about whether or not a 16-year-old is ready for this responsibility. |
