Abstract | This report aims to contribute to trans historical consciousness by providing an overview of New South Wales trans history. It reconstructs the legal, medical, media, social and – most importantly – lived and living experiences of trans and gender diverse people. Although the report goes back to time immemorial, by virtue of the sources available and the language of “trans” which emerged post-Second World War, much of the report focuses on the period since the 1950s. |
