Abstract

[Extract] This volume has presented a range of accounts detailing instances of the presence of Indigenous perspectives on the historical archaeology of colonialism. Our invitation from the editors was to reflect on these chapters, viewing them from our experience of Australian history and archaeology. We are respectively an historical archaeologist (Paterson) and Indigenous historian (Konishi), and we share an interest in the history of Australia focused on the experiences of Indigenous people and, in particular, the colonial world and the ways of knowing various forms of cross-cultural encounters.
