Abstract

[Extract] This analysis of Harnack's historiographical theory and practice will be pursued in three major moves. Firstly. I will argue that Harnack's historiographical challenges arise from his reorientation to the Baltic Lutheran Orthodoxy of his youth... And lastly, I will turn to Harnack's reflections on the practice of history to specify the implicit historiographical theories at play in his work.
