Abstract | This intellectual self-portrait traces the influences of my thinking on the nature of language and literacy, and importantly, its mediation by digital technologies since post-modernity. To understand the fundamental nature of language and literacy learning, and to teach it well, one must conceptualise it within the social, cultural, political, gendered, raced, and economic context of its normalised and contested use. There are ideological influences that sustain language and literacy practices of value at historical times. |
