Abstract | Upper aerodigestive tract share a common pathway for breathing, speech, and oral intake. The most common neoplasm affecting this site remains SCCs. Organ preservation therapeutic approaches form the basis of modern management. Pharyngeal reconstruction becomes necessary after primary surgical ablation or salvage surgery following failure of chemoradiation regimes. The surgical options for reconstruction and speech rehabilitation as well as management of complications are discussed in this chapter. |
