Abstract | [Extract] This study was designed to explore how students used a virtual reality (VR) application to create three-dimensional virtual paintings in digital spaces. Students used unconventional and multimodal practices, like body movements, to create the paintings. Visual design followed unconventional textual practices and occurred within a three-dimensional space. Data analysis explored meanings carried across multiple nonlinguistic data sets (Bezemer & Kress, 2008). Key themes in the analysis were body movement and the design elements of the virtual paintings. |
