Abstract
Video installation creates an ideal and innovative platform for memory work and storytelling. In this chapter I will argue that the form, viewing space and content of the video installation medium provides an immersive environment for the viewer who can ‘read’ the images at their own pace and become self directed in their responses to the images and the meaning making that ensues from them. This will be explored with reference to my own work as a digital video installation artist. Three different works will be presented as illustrative examples of networked environments that provided an immersive experience for story-telling on the part of viewers.
