Abstract
This article notes the difference between the tasks of biblical scholarship and systematic theology: that of the former is comparatively clear; while that of the latter not easy to specify. As a result, collaboration between these two disciplines has become very complex. The problem, then, is to clarify how systematic theology understands its task. Contributing to the much-needed clarification in this area, Lonergan’s theological method and Robert Doran’s recent suggestions will prove good resources.
