Abstract
This chapter will introduce many strategies for classroom managements that you will need from day one: how to set up expectations for work and behaviour; learning ways to create a positive learning environment; considering reasons why students misbehave; learning strategies for dealing with the 'not-so-bad but definitely annoying behaviour'; as well as developing strategies for dealing with quite difficult students and situations. This chapter adopts the pragmatic approach of drawing on the work of authors whose models and strategies have been tried and tested in real Australian classrooms, relying on common sense solutions.
