Abstract
[Extract] 'Aid for Armenia' became a familiar catch cry in Australia during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. In 1896, the Sydney paper, the Methodist, carried
lengthy reports from the British Methodist press detailing the atrocities conducted
against the Armenian population.1 The major Australian newspapers did the same, publishing stories from abroad, which were syndicated to rural and country newspapers.
