Abstract
Beginning with publications in the early 1970s, Gerald Grace’s scholarship attended to teaching and urban education; from there, it increasingly addressed many aspects of Catholic education. It included work on philosophy of Catholic education, faith schools, leadership, policy, role of Religious Orders, mission in contemporary educational contexts and Catholic social teaching. In a sense, he has been researching and writing about the international, ‘grand narrative’ of Catholic education. This was amplified considerably through his role at the Centre for Research and Development in Catholic Education and as editor of International Studies in Catholic Education, now accessed in 112 countries across the world
