Abstract
In what follows I will offer some reflections on Catholic universities, which are at the service of knowledge, especially in light of recent documents from the Magisterium of the Church. The year 2015 marks the fiftieth anniversary of Gravissiumum Educationis and also the twenty-fifth anniversary of Ex Corde Ecclessiae . To prepare for these notable anniversaries the Congregation for Catholic Education published a guidance document or Instrumentum Laboris in 2014. The title of this document is Educating Today and Tomorrow – A Renewing Passion . Part of this document brings into focus the special place of universities and higher education within Catholic education.
