Abstract
Most athletes are required to undertake significant travel for competition. This can have consequences for both physiological and psychological status and has the potential to impair performance. Nutrition is one aspect of travel which requires careful planning to minimise the risk of illness and to ensure nutritional goals are met. This chapter will discuss the key nutrition-related considerations for travel, including jet lag, training and competition schedule, accommodation and meal arrangements, availability of food and drink at destination, hygiene issues, climate and venue facilities.
