Abstract
This article reviews the progress of the largest study of heart disease in Africa to date – the Heart of Soweto Study. Moreover, it discusses the relevance of this study in respect to population screening in vulnerable populations. This includes Indigenous Australians living in communities that are remote from mainstream health care services.
