Capturing students' experiences of the enacted curriculum: The concept of curriculum literacies

Abstract
The paper addresses the findings of a survey about literacy demands across the curriculum drawn from representative samples of State, Catholic and Independent school systems in New South Wales and Queensland. Three areas provide the focus of the discussion: the demands on students to coordinate and integrate multiple literacies, sometimes at a fast rate; the concept of curriculum literacies as essentially hybrid in nature; and 'switching' among literacies, both within and across subjects, with the need for switching tending to remain implicit.
