Abstract
In the Introduction to Our Contributing Authors chapter at the beginning of this book, we – Brown and Duignan – stated that considering the nature of the uncertain and rapidly changing context in which system leaders exist and operate, the insights provided by the distinguished authors in this edited book ‘will be useful and empowering’. We believe that the authors have exceeded our expectations and their insights and wisdom on system leaders and leadership constitute valuable advice and direction in today’s uncertain and rapidly changing world – a VUCA world. The detailed advice from each contributing author provides a rich narrative, even a script, for system leaders to not only survive but flourish in a challenging and uncertain world. It is also clear from these narratives that there is no one best way of leading across all systems, but leaders can develop their own open-to-learning approaches that are fit for purpose within their spheres of influence.
