Abstract
The diagnosis and treatment of cancer is associated with significant psychological disruption, at least in the short term. The majority of patients recover within the first year after treatment, but a substantial minority demonstrates relatively poor mental health and quality of life, as well as specific concerns such as fear of cancer recurrence, that persist into survivorship. Effective psychosocial interventions exist for cancer survivors, yet the need remains to develop and target these interventions to that subset of patients in greatest need.
