Women as first among equals: A subversive reading of domesticity in totality and infinity

Abstract
An essay is presented which discusses French philosopher Emmanuel Levinas' views on gender equality, women's rights and domesticity. Topics discussed include rightful roles for women prescribed by the society, ethical relationship between the two genders in domestic environment and the prevalence of apparent priority, autonomy and egoism in various relationships. It states that women can serve as first among equals, without harming any ethical relations.
