Abstract
Bone strength data for adolescent females (mean age 14.9 years) engaged in intensive weight bearing activity in gymnasts (n=25) and track and field athletes (n=34) compared with non weight bearing females (i.e. water polo) (n=30) and less active controls (n=28). Both cross sectional and longitudinal analyses of measures including: (1) questionnaires on demographics, training and injury history, hours of physical activity and nutrition, (2) bone strength using peripheral quantitative computed tomography – pQCT, (3) biomechanical stiffness during repeated jumps. Primary and secondary data available. SPSS format.
