Abstract
The article reports on research into the adoption of the Safewards program in Queensland to reduce the frequency of risks and harmful events in mental health nursing facilities. Topics covered include the need for good communication and teamwork to manage aggressive behaviour of mental health patients, the Safewards program being designed by Professor Len Bowers of Kings College London in England, and the components of the evaluation of mental health nursing interventions.
