Abstract
This chapter explores some of the connections being made between leadership and learning by Australian and New Zealand researchers. It does so by reviewing a sample of recent research in both countries to highlight emerging concepts and findings. These findings are illustrated in the description and examination of the Principals as Literacy Leaders [PALL] Pilot Project, an action research project funded by the Australian Government. A series of implications from this leadership-focused research agenda Down Under are directed at politicians, policy makers, school leaders, parents, the wider community and researchers themselves. The drive in these calls to action is aimed at giving learning the ongoing prominence it needs if leaders are to remain focused on the moral purpose of the school’s work. Finally, we conclude the chapter by highlighting leadership for learning research frontiers as questions to which research efforts should be directed in the future.
