Abstract
[Excerpt] This collection focuses on globalisation and education and the imbrications between the two. Both globalisation and education are separately substantial concepts and also fields of research and practice. Furthermore, both continue to change. The imbrications between the two are perhaps even more complex, contested and changing and demand theoretical and methodological advances for understanding them. This is the focus of this collection and of this introduction to it. In this opening to the introduction to the collection, consideration will be given to both globalisation and education before moving to traverse productive and new critical theoretical and methodological approaches for understanding the imbrications between them. This introductory essay will also place boundaries around both ideas to ensure some intellectual rigour and coherence to the collection. Next, I will consider the changing nature of globalisation and then focus explicitly on education policy. Thus, the focus is not education in its totality, but rather education policy.
