Abstract

Key points
• There is currently no education and training available for health care professionals ( HCPs) to support them in best evidence osteoarthritis (OA) care that is interdisciplinary and addresses core capabilities.
• Knowledge and skill gaps are barriers for HCPs to deliver best evidence OA care.
• Addressing system-level, clinician-level, and patient-level barriers, and collaborating with key stakeholders are critical when designing education and training, especially in low- and middle-income countries and low-resourced settings.
• An evidence-informed framework to guide development and evaluation of education and training for delivery of evidence-based OA care includes overarching principles for education and training, core capabilities for the delivery of OA care, theories of learning and preferences for delivery, and evaluation of education and training.
