Abstract

Changes in ideological approaches to politics, business and economics have affected employees' private, social and public domains. Economic effects of globalisation, of changes to the social/psychological employment contract, changes in ways in which employing organisations' workforces are managed and, in some cases, to legislation governing employment contracts have changed the nature of working life. There needs to be a greater awareness of the responsibility of employing organisations to reduce the adverse impacts of work practices on their employees.
