Abstract

[Extract] The first decade of the third millennium has witnessed an unprecedented interest in spirituality across the globe. In many countries the various disciplines that have been examining spirituality range across education, health, youth and social work, psychology, sociology and others. This has meant that, in the western world, spirituality has been coaxed out of the grasp of religion and theology and is being recognised as an innate element of the human condition. Accordingly, the different disciplines that focus on relevant aspects of the human person are beginning to identify the role of spirituality for human life and learning.
