Abstract | In this paper I discuss the history of efforts to support and assist children within the Jewish community in Australia and abroad. There is a long history of philanthropic support for Jewish children beginning in the nineteenth century that has often been overlooked. This support was not only national but also international, and by the end of the Second World War such efforts had positioned Australia at the forefront of philanthropic efforts to assist Jewish children. |
