This chapter aims to examine the form and contents of Denis Diderot's last work, Essai sur la vie de Sénèque le philosophe, sur ses écrits et sur les règnes de Claude et of Néron [Essay on the life of Seneca, the philosopher, on his writings and on the reigns of Claudius and Nero], published in 1778 and, later, in 1782.
