Abstract

This chapter focuses on caring for preschool children aged between 3 and 5 years. It considers child development and assessment and incorporates Erikson’s psychosocial developmental stage of initiative versus guilt. Considerations for nursing and allied health care and the integration of therapeutic play approaches to support young children, siblings and their parents as partners are included.
