Abstract | The situation-specific theory of heart failure (HF) self-care, developed in 2008 and revised in 2016 is used worldwide by clinicians and researchers. Central to this theory is the description of self-care as a naturalistic decision-making process involving the choice of behaviors that maintain physiologic stability (maintenance), symptom perception, and the response to symptoms when they occur (management). |
