Abstract | The fundamental research question of the project was: What are the specific needs of children who have a parent with an alcohol or other drug issue and how are these similar or different to other children with care responsibilities? To answer this question a number of secondary questions were asked. These included: What would be the implications for young carer programs, children and young people and their families if they were to be/not be considered ‘young carers’? How do existing child, youth, family, alcohol or other drug and/or statutory programs currently meet the children and young people’s needs? Would additional programs/services be necessary to accommodate the needs of these children and young people? |
