Abstract | The article analyses and critiques recent research findings dealing with major forms of discrimination and discriminatory practices, and their impact on learners and their implications for the student’s social identity, self-esteem, human rights and social justice. The article focuses on specific research findings dealing with intelligence discrimination, learning discrimination, race and ethnicity discrimination, and the nexus between the self-fulfilling prophecy (SFP) and academic achievement. This article evaluates research dealing with the notion of discrimination in the classroom, and the self-fulfilling prophecy. |
